The Hospital
The hospital was created in response to the need for hospital facilities in the countryside during the Hundred Years' War (1348-1450). It was first mentioned in 1471 during the plague epidemics.
However the royal wish to improve hospital services led to the abandonment of the country hospitals in favour of those in the city of Montpellier. In 1696, the hospital was attached to the General Hospital Saint-Charles, and the site lost its function to become a simple outhouse. It became a temporary accommodation centre during the grape harvest until the beginning of the 20th century, then a Catholic school.
Architecturally, the interior dates from the 18th century. There is a transverse corridor covered by a barrel vault, and a room with two cross vaults separated by a double arch resting on two rectangular pillars.
